The Onomatopoeia Pouch is a valuable and worthy resource for deaf children. Mae explained this really well|: ‘With ‘pop’ being an onomatopoeia word, it inspired the game and book to become a learning source for deaf children to learn onomatopoeia words in a fun, flexible and bright environment. The flexible packaging means the whole game is portable, or you can bring out one set of cards.’

Mae spoke to the National Deaf Society about the best way for children to learn, and interaction with others was the main recommendation, as this also allows their social skills to grow alongside their knowledge. Every aspect of the game has been really carefully thought through, from the interactive elements, the focus on play and the customisation aspect to the characters. The insight taken from speaking to the National Deaf Society has enabled the project to have great potential and real-world application.

Analogue said: ‘Mae’s response was super fun, they loved the gamification angle, the thinking was very clever and the level of craft and detail really shone though. Awesome Job!’
