Bloom/Typographic Rebirth

Bloom is a unique serum for skin rebirth, utilising the natural vitamins from women’s placentas, and the proceeds help fund maternity wards. The illustrations are inspired by Pre-Raphaelite art as the women in these paintings always have beautifully smooth, glowing skin, in addition to the narrative of Ophelia. The launch with a pop-up space in Covent Garden to provide serenity within the urban landscape of central London, and Zoe created some lovely short animations as part of the promotion.

Zoe amazingly submitted two projects, the other one was a typographic rebirth, creating a working typeface inspired by gravestone rubbings, and was brought to life with the poem ‘The Lady of Shallot’, about mortality and isolation. This came back full circle with her working with a funeral directors to typeset a gravestone, and Zoe also created a type-specimen scroll. Amazing work ethic, Zoe!

Dixon Baxi said: ‘Zoe delivered a great presentation. Using stories to communicate the ideas was extremely interesting and insightful. The craft around the type work was amazing. This is a fantastic skill! It was also great to see how Zoe developed the idea and created something real at the end. The repositioning of the placenta brand was also great. Zoe took a difficult subject and made something fantastic with it.’
